Pascal Mannaerts was born in Brussels in 1978. It's during one of his first backpack travels that he truly discovers the power of photography as a witness to his encounters abroad and of the exchanges that he's lived on the road. It's a way for him to share his discoveries and preserve them. In 2000 he leaves for India for the first time with a reflex camera. The continent will act as something of a catalyst, making him come back time and time again. For more than ten years now, he regularly furrows along the world's roads. His many travels have taken him to Asia, Africa, South America and the Middle East.
He is a self-taught photographer, a slow process through curiosity, experience and above all through his taste for spontaneousness and the original experience. His work reflects that very desire to go towards the inquisitiveness of existence, the appetite for chance encounters and the magic that is behind it all. A large share of his photographic work can be seen on his website www.parcheminsdailleurs.com. His photographs have been published in Géo, National Geographic, The Guardian, Lonely Planet, the Guide du Routard, Doctors Without Borders en in several magazines in Europe. His work has been exhibited throughout Europe, Brazil and India.
